The question was asking “what does a healthy grandparent / adult child relationship look like” and TBH we are still working it out
We both initially had expectations my mom would be super involved with the grandkids and… that’s just not the case
She’s trying to be true to her authentic self and time / bandwidth / interests / capacity
And I’m grieving the loss of a dream I thought we both still shared
I think ultimately “healthy” looks a bit like this though – open & honest dialogue with one another about where we really are. I’m really grateful we have the opportunity to stay connected as we work through it. | Posted on 17/Oct/2024 19:27:56
