In 1920 when the 19th Amendment became law giving “women” the right to vote- Indigenous -Native American Women weren’t allowed to be US citizens. Asian-American immigrant women couldn’t vote until 1952 (Immigrantion & Nationality Act) Puerto Rican women couldn’t vote without a literacy test until 1975. Black Women, in the struggle for suffrage since the early 1800s continued to fight for 200 years for the right to vote (Voting Rights Act of 1965) 2024 over 90% voted for a Black Woman for President of the United States.
Remarkable.
