Discovering Helena’s work and message (@localfutures_ ) has been life changing as I now see that the root cause of all our problems – from health, climate, poverty and even the breakdown of our social fabric – is Globalization. When we lived in land based cultures, speaking our diverse languages, developing sophisticated local food systems that promoted biodiversity- our human and planetary health was in much better shape. The move in the last 500 years to destroy these local food systems in favor of monocultures for export, was designed by corporations to make a few people unimaginably wealthy – while people and planet suffer. Reclaiming and restoring our local food systems is imperative to restoring balance on Earth.
