On September 16, we solemnly mark the second anniversary of the killing of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Jina Amini in police custody in Iran—a tragic event that ignited the global “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and sparked widespread calls for justice, freedom, and human rights.
We also honor the memory of the innocent lives lost during the Iranian government’s brutal crackdown on protests. Over 500 protesters were killed by security forces, many were deliberately blinded by gunfire, tens of thousands were arrested and tortured, and several were executed.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with those who continue to fight for human rights and justice, particularly with political prisoners who remain unjustly imprisoned.
