Every choice I made was questioned, talked about, and often belittled. During the hardest years of my life, I couldn’t even turn to my family for comfort because it was my choice to study outside instead of marrying. It was my choice to break the mold. I didn’t want to risk my sisters’ futures by giving anyone a reason to say, “Your sister did this, so you can’t do that.”
