Socotra did that for me to a degree I didn’t expect.
It could be the most basic things you’ve accepted as truth. For example:
Eating at a table — Yemenis eat on the ground.
Using a fork — they use their hands.
Dating before I choose who I want to marry —they don’t date, and until recently, women couldn’t choose who they married.
Eating at a restaurant — it’s not customary for local women to eat at restaurants alone.
Seeing people who are homeless — there are no homeless here, as the very few without a home are immediately sheltered by those who can afford it.
Not having strangers in my house — they welcome all strangers.
