Diana Nyad Instagram – Our movie NYAD screened as the kickoff of the Havana Film Festival, to a booming reception. Yes, the movie was big for Netflix, with much lauding last year, but this Cuba screening may have been the most special of all. Cuba such a deep and vital part of my personal story and the Cuba-US connection such a big issue in the film.
Some of you question my spending money in Cuba, furthering support of the political regime. Trust me, I sometimes feel conflicted about that. But we go there to inspire the people to live their best lives and we are received as heroes who inspire. What could be bad about that? Our love of the Cuban people is palpable and we feel their love in return.
