Jewel Instagram – Yep. Went grey OVERNIGHT when I was 21 or so. I have had FBI , FTA and many local authorities all across America called to my home, hotel or venue for men w guns or knives or suitcases w explosives or their very own cult coming for me, threatening me, firebombing, kidnapping – all in the name of “loving” me. I have been cussed, berated, grabbed and humiliated in public because men did not think I was “nice” enough in a moment and they got angry. What I went through isn’t uncommon. It did cause me to step back from my career because – who wouldn’t?! Safety for women needs to be ALL the time – even if that woman is famous. Even if she isn’t. Even if she is wearing a mini skirt.
I’m so grateful my true fans have always been so respectful, and way back in the 90’s when no one was talking about trauma, my fans respected my need not to be touched or rushed up on.
