Happy 40th Anniversary to Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo, the movie that gave me my start in the entertainment business and my breaker name- future Instagram handle “Kimmeabreak.” I’ll forever be grateful to Big Daddy for scouting me and Che (my breakdancing partner) at that battle in DTLA and to Sam Firstenberg for giving me my first line in a film “C’mon, C’mon. Turbos’s Ok! C’mon!”. I believe Sam told me to “make it my own”, thus fueling my idea to explore acting as well as dance. One of the reasons cult classic remains in the zeitgeist is the authenticity of the dance style, the way it was made (in Boyle Heights), and the themes which drives the story: giving back to one’s community through the love language of dance and believing in the power of Miracles. Breakin’ 2 still holds up y’all! I’m very proud to have been a small part of this film. Look that’s me in the middle in the pink overalls, serving up some crazy legs!!! All I remember about this day is that Ice T put me on his shoulders cause I was so short and couldn’t see the crowd. I felt like the coolest little kid in the world. Shout out to Ice- T! @icet And my friend @cuban_ed who was also a dancer in this film and my long time dance teacher.Love ya!
