Happiest Birthday to my late Nana Ji, whom many of you may remember from my old YouTube videos. His birthday was on Christmas (or so the make-shift birth certificate says… we’ll accept it LOL) and he passed years ago on New Years Eve. Only iconic timing he said… and though this holiday is always bittersweet, looking back at these old vlogs has put the biggest smile on my face 🥹
Him and I were very close. We played connect four and rummy like an Olympic sport. He would blatantly cheat. His fav movie was Matilda. In the scene where her dad gets confused by her reading a book, he would laugh hysterically every single time. And he hugged me the most out of every person in my life.
Towards the end of his time with us, he suffered from dementia, which was really tough because he became unlike himself. There were moments where he didn’t know who I was or got me confused with another person. It was so upsetting to me, that after he passed, I suffered from sleep paralysis and to this day, I cannot sleep on my back.
Age comes for all of us. And I don’t know anyone who hasn’t lost a grandparent or someone else dear to them. That’s life. And we must make the most of it and love others and ourselves with the little time we have 💜
Today, I’m remembering all the lovely and hilarious times I had with you Naner. And I’m so grateful I have these videos with you. I hope you’re sipping a peg, sitting outside on the grass and eating food with as much salt as your heart desires. You da 🐐
