Lisa Ray Instagram – Used to travel a great deal. I mean constantly. Even filmed several travel and cultural shows over the years. And now my experience of seeing the world through wiser eyes demands a slower, more mindful pace.
Just booking the tickets and seeing (or taking selfies in front of) the sights doesn’t often lead to an experience that engulfs you with the essence of a new place. Put another way, hectic itineraries don’t risk the astonishments of discovery- both of the land and of yourself. In ticking travel sights off your list, you may not notice the small things that are both exotic and universal. Which is really all I’m about today at 52. The frenetic travel plans are behind me.
Reflecting back on years of wandering the world, I wonder what remains. What are the impressions left in my heart and mind that form the bedrock of sweet memory. And I can honestly say, it’s been the places where I explored deep, not wide.
