Honoring a friend on his birthday, Whitman Mayo was known for his funny role as Grady on Sanford and Son. I knew him as a kind and gentle soul who had much depth to his craft. My daughter and I hired Whitman to teach acting at Crossroads Arts Academy and theater. Whitman brought that depth of talent and a masterful approach to teaching. He’s funny on and off stage, but more importantly, he cared about people. He left a legacy of service and teaching wherever he went, including Clark Atlanta University. He will always be remembered!! ❤️🕊️❤️

Quincy and I had a meeting years ago where we discovered we went to the same high school in Chicago! Many years later his daughter Rachel would become my veterinarian. What an unforgettable night! The CFB Foundation hosted the Heart of Gold Awards 2024, for a night of philanthropy and honoring individuals making a real impact in the senior community. The evening was filled with inspiration, music, & heartfelt recognition. The CFB Foundation – Heart of Gold Awards was hosted at @avalonhollywood by award winning comedian and actor @kymwhitley. Opening the night was a moving poetry by Pam Abrahams, followed by an incredible performance of The Circle of Life by actor and performer @handsomechaz accompanied by The Voices Of Destiny Choir. Singer and Songwriter @shaniceonline , Motown Legend @thelmahoustonofficial & the incomparable @listen2tish moved the attendees as they sang their world-renowned hits! @nonagaye5107 wowed the audience with her rendition of her father @officialmarvingayemusic classic hit “Got To Give It Up,” making an incredible comeback after two decades. @elainevgibbs with Nusoul Band, brought down the house with their electrifying ballades that had everyone on their feet. @luenell, @msjasminemasters, @iambossross, @mrrichardlawson, @maryelong2011 helped us honor those doing amazing things in the senior community. @marlagibbs4real, received the Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Award as she continues to shine with grace & vitality and offer seniors that beacon of hope. The Real HouseWives of Potomac @officialkarenhuger, accepted the Legacy Preservation Award. @nonagaye5107 accepted The In-Memoriam Award Marvin Gaye Legacy Award on behalf of her late mother Janis Hunter Gaye. @shirrelledey , owner of @chefsforseniorslasb accepted the Aging Ally Award, & @u2rocks CEO of @thelaa received the Senior Life Enrichment Award. Our friend Richard Lundblade helped us raise some much needed funds to fuel the CFB Foundation’s programs. Special recognition goes to the CFB Foundation President @julian.l.bannister & Vice President @yannij_ the founders of the @cfb_foundation , known as @allthings_theboys at @avalonhollywood , for spearheading this movement of revolutionizing elderly care! It was truly a night to remember. Our gratitude extends to everyone who attended and to those who generously donated 💚
