There’s a thing that fucking sucks about being an equestrian. Sometimes the horse that you love with your whole goddamn heart isn’t the right horse for you anymore for any number of reasons, and you have to sell them to a new wonderful home. Aragorn and I have never been the perfect fit: he’s pretty small, he and I both have crazy anxiety which is an endless circle of spooking and panic, and sometimes it’s just a fact that the rider and horse are just a complicated match. That was only in the saddle though. Every other second of every day, he was my perfect angel boy. I love him with my whole heart and soul and he will always be my heart horse. Thanks to @cellardoorequestrian who I trust with my life, she has found him a perfect and loving new home, so I am not worried. I will miss him. Always. No photos of us riding— that wasn’t the most important thing to me with him. Only pictures of us and our partnership because goddamn we were partners. He’s saved my ass in the saddle more times than he or I have spooked. I’ll miss sharing apples. I taught him how to give me kisses on the cheek, and he was a good listener. I know his new owner will love him. Please scroll all the way to the last two videos in this carousel— it’s him running in a huge field, happier than I’ve ever seen him, with the sunset so perfect in the background it looks like it was directed by Denis Villeneuve. All this to say. I love you Drambuie Z aka Aragorn. “I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.” And my time with you was the best timeline. I’ll never be alone. 🖤
This is a bit of a long post, but bear with me; I put a lot of love into it 🩷. If you’ve been following me for more than 5 minutes, you’ll know that I like One Piece. I don’t have the time (or character limit) to go into detail about how formative the series is for me and has touched my heart blah blah blah. So for my next “belated Japan posting” installment, ONE PIECE ADVENTURES! I purposely planned my trip to be able to celebrate one of my favorite character’s— Trafalgar Law— birthday! I spent the day hanging out with other Law fans in Shibuya, language barrier be damned. I went to about 5 Mugiwara stores (and spent an amount of money on merch and figurines I’m ashamed to admit), went to the One Piece museum only 2 days after it opened where they displayed every page of the manga from chapter 1-1100, but best of all, I did the “One Piece pilgrimage”. The creator of the manga, Eiichiro Oda, was born in Kumamoto Japan. Around the prefecture there are large bronze statues placed in many different locations as a part of a project to help Kumamoto recover from an earthquake with a generous donation from Oda. So like many fans, I took a 7 hour bullet train trip to Kumamoto, bought my first straw hat, spent ~7 hours getting to as many statues as I could (only 5/10 but they’re some of my fave crew members), slept one night in a ryokan, then travelled home the next day. The only reason I could see so many is because of an INCREDIBLE taxi driver that asked via a translator if I planned to see the other statues, and offered to take me to as many as he could, cutting the meter when I got out to take pictures. He didn’t speak a word of English and I’m nowhere near conversational, so we chatted for hours via an app and I cried from how grateful I was when he dropped me at my hotel. So, all this to say, my One Piece adventures were amazing. Not just because of the merch and themed things, but because this franchise literally transcended language barriers so strangers could all enjoy something we care about. If you read all of this, I love you. Go watch One Piece. The content is worth the time.

Belated Japan posting number 3.5 (it’s just a baby snippet but deserves a post LOL)! Okay so. You know I’m a nerd; I collect figurines, wear merch, etc etc. I am also a little more unhinged about it than you might know. So this post is labeled OTAKU MICA LFG!! I spent a hell of a lot of time in Akihabara and Shibuya and Ikebukuro indulging myself in weeb shit. And yes, I’m that girlie with photocards and ita bags. And YES I spent 13 days searching for doujin of my favorite One Piece ship (it’s MiShanks obviously, it’s practically canon if you ask me), and when I found it I gasped so loud @vintageaerith could hear me from practically a different aisle. Shoutout to her for photographing my reaction after finding it. I loaded up on merch of my favorite Love Live, Idolmaster, and Project Sekai idols, and I also swiftly got into VTubers while abroad and will stan Houshou Marine till the day I die. One Piece aside, I spent time in so many Mandarakes and Lashingbangs and losing my money in crane game arcades EXCEPT THE ONE TIME I WON, and loved every second of it. The amount of acrylic standees and oshitaku items I came back with is insane. Do not ask how many figurines I brought home. The number is embarrassing.
