Our deep understanding of racism and hate. Slavery and Freedom.
This history goes way back and arrived its historic peak to fight and end segregation in the US from the legal battle to the streets – were Many Jewish activists, including young students and rabbis, participated in Freedom Rides, sit-ins, and marches. Some, like Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, even lost their lives fighting for civil rights, as seen in the 1964 murders during the Freedom Summer campaign in Mississippi.
The alliance between Jewish and African American communities during the Civil Rights Movement was built on a shared commitment to justice, shaped by both groups’ histories of oppression and discrimination.
This alliance between our communities have always inspired me deeply.
Now in 2024, last Shabbat we came together around a table, to break bread, practice gratitude and deepen that human connection that can heal the most broken of hearts.
In this Shabbat and every Shabbat I pray for unity that can beat hate and free our souls. FREE OUR HOSTAGES-
99 people are still held by Hamas – deprived from their freedom. I hope we can unite again to end this madness and free our hostages and inspire the next generation to come.
Freedom at last. Freedom at last. This is my most important prayer. Shabbat shalom and thank you for @bjealliance connecting us to one another @selmablair @genesimmons @traciszy and to our selves.

שבת שעברה הוזמנתי לערב שמאחד שחורים ויהודים. היה עוצמתי להיזכר שהקהילות שלנו צעדו יד ביד ונלחמו בגזענות עד שהצליחו לבטל חוקים ולקבוע מדיניות חדשה לקהילות באמריקה יהודים שגם הקריבו את חייהם במאבק לצדק חברתי ושוויון. היום כשאנחנו תחת איום ממש ואחיינו ואחיותינו בשבי, כבולים כעבדים היה לי חשוב להזכיר את המצב שבו אנו נמצאים היום. בכל ארוחת ערב, או מפגש עבודה אני מנסה להעיר אותם ואותנו לפעולה. להתאחד. להשפיע עד שיחזרו הביתה בשלום. שבת שלום ותודה לארגון המדהים הזה על היוזמה לחבר אותנו אחד לשנייה ולעצמינו. | Posted on 20/Dec/2024 20:18:22
