From my Award Dive e Donne International 2024 at the Venice Film Festival. @divaedonna_settimanale @tizianarocca @labiennale ”It is a great privilege for me to be here tonight, to celebrate women art and cinema. and to be celebrated as an actress, as a woman, and as the mother of my own little diva My Lea. I feel very fortunate to be in this dreamlike city, Venice . but I cannot ignore the fact that while we are here, my country and my people are experiencing the worst times since the Holocaust. My hope is that art can inspire us to choose better lives for our children, so that this war may end, and our beloved hostages may return home Alive . I dedicate this award to all the women who were called Diva for using their voice to a say ‘NO,’ and who ask for more. I dedicate it this award to the women who no longer have a voice: to Giulia Cecchettin, Giulia Tramontano, Mahsa Amini, and Eden Yeruslami, who was killed by Hamas after more than 300 days of captivity. I share this recognition with them and hope that it can inspire young girls, including my daughter, to own their voices, to be free in their bodies, and to feel safe wherever they go. This is not a privilege—it is our right. Slavery and Freedom. This history goes way back and arrived its historic peak to fight and end segregation in the US from the legal battle to the streets – were Many Jewish activists, including young students and rabbis, participated in Freedom Rides, sit-ins, and marches. Some, like Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, even lost their lives fighting for civil rights, as seen in the 1964 murders during the Freedom Summer campaign in Mississippi. The alliance between Jewish and African American communities during the Civil Rights Movement was built on a shared commitment to justice, shaped by both groups’ histories of oppression and discrimination. This alliance between our communities have always inspired me deeply. Now in 2024, last Shabbat we came together around a table, to break bread, practice gratitude and deepen that human connection that can heal the most broken of hearts. In this Shabbat and every Shabbat I pray for unity that can beat hate and free our souls. FREE OUR HOSTAGES- 99 people are still held by Hamas – deprived from their freedom. This alliance between our communities have always inspired me deeply. Now in 2024, last Shabbat we came together around a table, to break bread, practice gratitude and deepen that human connection that can heal the most broken of hearts. In this Shabbat and every Shabbat I pray for unity that can beat hate and free our souls. FREE OUR HOSTAGES- 99 people are still held by Hamas – deprived from their freedom. I hope we can unite again to end this madness and free our hostages and inspire the next generation to come. Freedom at last. Freedom at last. This is my most important prayer.
