Omg!!! I’ve been digging around in my camera roll so you might see more of these 🌚 we filmed this pre-vis to show the director and creative team what the ultimate @therealkellydevine had been cooking up in the studio. I sped it up here. Back then I had been so nervous but I spent so many hours practicing the steps and treated that little ballet studio like my church. I had only been off and on dancing for years and admittedly more off than on. So, I felt I had a lot to prove. And also felt the pressure of feeling not “dancer” enough and a tremendous fear of being laughed at in front of a crew of 100 . Or worse behind closed doors. But this run through changed things for me. At the end of the video, my arms cave into my heart and a tiny smile of pride creeps across my face before I try to run away. I am learning to stay a little longer in those moments.
Don’t get me wrong… I’ll make any excuse to wear good clothes 💁🏾♀️💁🏾♀️ speaking of which my dress is @farmrio ❣️🌚

I read a story the other day about @meghantrainor opening up about how she accidentally got too much Botox and it’s inhibited her ability to smile and her openness really touched me. It made me think about the distinct memory I have of being in psych class as a kid and learning how a physical smile could trick your brain into happiness. And how there’s so much pressure encoded in society for women to look a certain way. This pressure rearing its head from so many ugly angles ranging from age discrimination all the way to transphobia. Anyways, I do not personally know Meghan and I do not normally explain my poems. But her openness was inspiring. So, more words to go with words. Xoxoxoxz
