Doing the asking. I have one relatively booked-relatively-last-minute solo show tomorrow in Northampton at The Academy of Music Theater, and I’m asking the community to help me get the word out. Thank you, locals. See you tomorrow in Northampton. I also promise at least one @chappellroan cover. Possibly two. I need that. ♥️🔥🌈🎹🙏 Ticket link in stories and amandapalmer.net Patron gathering info for Sunday is on the last post of the Patreon.

Okay….stay with me to the end here, it’s worth it I promise, I promise So, our British Auntie Rebecca was visiting. She’s in her late sixties and hails from a remote part of the UK. She’s been one of my favorite houseguests ever; pottering around, making origami for the kids, doing all the dishes, brushing Ash’s hair and tutting him, being very awesome and Mary Poppins-y. She came armed with this navy button-up sweater all riddled with holes in the arms and everywhere that she wore pretty much every day. She called it her “Cardy”, short for Cardigan, which is a British way of saying sweater. So anyway, Rebecca finally left for the airport to head back to Old Blighty, and a few hours after she departed, I found the Cardigan left behind on a chair-back in our kitchen. Oh my god! HER BELOVED CARDY. Did she leave it on purpose? As an act of permanence? Territory? Love? (If so, I was happy). So we who were left in America all took turns putting it on and taking dumb photos and then we sent her a little photoset of us all in the kitchen with Cardy. That was when Brendon got the idea. The idea was that we should find her a really nice replacement sweater, and mail it to her in the UK, and then she would have a new beloved Cardy, and we would keep the old hole-riddled one here, in a box, for when she visits next year, and we could name the old sweater Cardy A, so that the new one would be dubbed… Yes. Cardy B. Thank you good night (blame Brendon)

Ash, 9, a couple days ago, to his Jiu Jitsu teacher (who texted me the quote later): “One thing I’ve learned about life: Sometimes things will get in the way to make it harder.” Yes, Ash. Photo of Kate and Ash looking for the meteor shower, taken earlier tonight.
Casual. #chappellroan
Theater Peej. She absolutely slayed it tonight with her band at @mgmgrand. I’ve seen her a half dozen times on three different continents (starting in something like 2001) and man it’s such a goddamn pleasure watching her dig deeper into her craft every tour. Like Nick. Kintsugi artist. Art person. Stage knower. Nobody else gets to do what she does. Björk, kinda. But truly, nobody in a rock venue gets to command this kind of focus from her audience on the bare and unapologetic back of her massive and unbelievably personal, impersonal, gorgeous, deliberate, fleshy, cold, weird and varied body of work. There is fucking nothing on earth like PJ Harvey. (Also I’ve missed being in a town where I run into 14 people I know and have worked with when I go to a show. I am so happy to be home.) 🖤♥️🎉🥀
