The ceasefire will be called into effect on Sunday 19th January.
From my perspective.. knowing that bombs will still be falling on Gaza until Sunday, I have to say CEASEFIRE sounds great, but we have to hold caution before celebrating. Gaza has been absolutely devastated. Tens of thousands of men, women and children have undergone continuous bombardment for almost 15 months..The slaughter and carnage – wounding, starving, burning, destruction of every part of infrastructure..
Entire families wiped out.
The torture, starvation, amputation of limbs ( often without anaesthetic) – disease, freezing cold rain, wind, ethnic cleansing – nowhere safe..
The destruction of schools, hospitals, universities, homes, churches,mosques.. historic buildings… The list of sadistic cruelty endured by the Palestinian people is indescribably brutal, in a way that has made me feel unspeakably horrified and deeply ashamed of the entire global system, with it’s industrial military complex.
I almost lost my entire faith in every aspect of it all. Except for those who stood up and called it out. You have my deepest respect and appreciation!!!
