Carla Dunareanu Instagram – Parts 4, 5 and 6 should be watched in succession because that really is the journey you go though as a performer. The highs are higher than the sky and the lows are soul killing. To be a performer, it requires you to already give so much of yourself to your craft. Adding your appearance and having people critic you on it with regards to your everyday life, not even a role you are preparing for, just makes you feel inadequate as a human being. If you had to bulk up to play Superman, or let yourself lose muscle mass because you are cast as a person who had an accident and is bed ridden, that’s all part of the job. So getting into character that way is completely valid. But to make a comment on someone’s appearance in a social setting that has NOTHING to do with a specific role, is just hurtful. Using the excuse that they are “doing you a favor” and “telling you this for your own good” is gaslighting at best.
