Christina Ochoa Instagram – Day 1 – Heading off to the first part of this adventure: Mendoza, Argentina; in order to climb Aconcagua (approx 6900m 🏔️).
Being the only woman in the group for summit became less of a deterrent after a while, and perhaps now is more a point of determination. I want my young sister & future daughters to see women on adventures/ expeditions challenging themselves. I want them to see philanthropic efforts that don’t feel downtrodden but like an exciting prospect full of hope. I want them to see support and protection from good men that already excel in these areas (I’m lucky this group is full of “big brother” type wonderful men who encouraged me to join and never once made me feel like I wouldn’t belong). I want them to see collaborations in lieu of competition. This first half of the expedition is full of effort, hardship, discomfort, and (hopefully) accomplishment. We are collecting samples at altitude and later at depth (journeying to the incredible French Polynesia for contrast to highlight incredible spots and women working in remote regions towards our common goal). Additional team experts are joining that portion of the trip so we can all share our knowledge with you. Will post about out prep, progress (🤞) & results as we go.
