Ellie Holcomb Instagram – This verse makes me wonder what perfect peace feels like? I think I’ve had glimpses of it, little tastes here and there, and you know what? SO often, I catch those glimpses in the hardest seasons of my life. I’m not sure why, but I think it might have something to do with coming to the end of my rope. I tend to lean heavy on myself. Can you relate? I mean, we’re raised in a self-help, pull yourself up by your bootstraps culture, so it’s no wonder I land there, but so often, when I am too tired to get myself up even out of bed, I end up in surrender. When I can’t go on, I find that I tend to pray more, in a last ditch effort to get me through whatever feels impossible in front of me, and guess what? It is SO often in these moments, when I have experienced something that felt like the “perfect peace” of God. It generally has nothing to do with any circumstances, but has greeted me mysteriously and beautifully in my weakest moments, in moments when it makes NO SENSE AT ALL to have any peace, I find myself more able to surrender and receive the peace. Oh God, may I learn to keep my mind steadfast on You, in the valley and on the mountaintops. When I’m at my lowest, or at my very best, help me to remember I never face anything alone. Help me to rely on and trust in Your love, no matter the day or the season, and may I be marked by the perfect peace that follows choosing to keep my eyes on You and trust You’ve got me, no matter what.
