You all know I post a lot and always express how much I admire and share how important our everyday heroes are, and firefighters are amongst the top of the list. Many of you have been asking me how you can help during these horrific fires and the disastrous situation in LA. I’ve been working with the @lafdfoundation for several years, they are a great organization and the direct way to donate to help the firefighters on the lines now. (This video with Chief Crowley was shot earlier this year) I’m supplying you with an online and text way to support below where you know this will go directly to help the firefighters now (every little bit helps.) The LAFD Foundation is actively seeking funds to equip our LAFD members battling wildfires with equipment and supplies such as: Emergency Fire Shelters – These personal fire shelters are deployed when the unthinkable happens and firefighters become overrun by flames. These light, compact shelters are designed to reflect radiant heat, protect against convective heat, and trap breathable air within. Hydration Backpacks – Firefighters can be on the front lines of a wildfire for up to 12 hours. These unique backpacks carry three quarts of water and are vital to keeping firefighters healthy on the fire line. Wildland Brush Tools – Clearing fire roads and creating natural barriers to slow the spread of fire is a necessary but labor-intensive and exhausting process. These light and durable hand tools are specially designed to help ground crews cut through tree limbs, clear brush overgrowth, and remove potential fuel sources. My heart goes out to all affected by these horrific fires. Many have lost everything, and the situation remains treacherous. Thank you to Chief Crowley and all the firefighters, including those who have flown in to help. You are incredible heroes! This fire is one of the most unfortunate in history due to natural factors that have propelled it and hindered firefighting efforts. When disasters happen, people band together, and the beauty of humanity shines through. I felt it important to share something from my experience – I’ve been working with Chief Crowley and the LAFD Foundation. They are the most impressive people, with unmatched passion, heart, drive, and dedication. Chief Crowley’s care for her teams and department is astounding. Despite unprecedented winds and fires, Chief Crowley and the firefighters are doing everything they can. They face extreme conditions, including 75-100 mph winds and a continued need for funding, supplies, and water. I’ve been helping them fundraise for several years because she and they care so much – she is always trying to think of other ways to help her people and departments. I wanted to shine a light on all of them and everyone out there helping to fight these fires. The inherent nature of a firefighter is to help others. I wanted to share my love, gratitude, appreciation, and praise for all those risking their lives and working non-stop to help. Please share if you agree.
