1992 I went to the USA to do my Bachelors & Ma @nusciejamil let me wear her Afghan Kuchi Dress. Recently I have started wearing it again and I’m loving it…So are my friends and family. The hat I’m wearing is a traditional woman’s formal wear hat, from Hunza. I love wearing them. They make one me feel nicely glammed up 🙂 Our region boasts some of the most fabulous textiles and craftsman ship in textiles and garments. From different kinds of embroideries, to rillis, patchwork, different goTaa work, to dresses embellished with shells, coins and silver tassels, to the different cuts and styles. Ghararas, Ghararas, Saris, Chooridars, Angharkas, Shalwar Kameez, Shalwar Kurta, Pajama Kurta, Dhotis, Lehngas, PaTiyala shalwars, Traditional dresses from Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, Kalaash, Sindh, Punjab, Kashmir, KPK, different chadars, duppatata, from cotton to chiffon, lawn to velvet, silks, banarsis, khaddar, to handwoven looms in wools and cottons, plain, embroidered or block printed. Sussi shalwars, ajraks smelling of that lovely organic dye smell. Uff. This is just the tip of the iceberg berg. We have inherited an endless treasure, a legacy in colours, fabrics, stitches, and designs. Each province in Pakistan has its own unique craftsman ship in textiles and garments. Then Afghanistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka have their own fantastic unique styles and textiles. Often hand woven, always hand stitched and organically dyed, these pieces are authentic and original. It’s time to share these beautiful, unique and timelessly classic pieces of art with our new generation! Make it accessible to them to enjoy and wear with pride.
