thanks to our kids… #family farm time with Gaaga, what our kids call my Mum. It started when they were little as Naana and instead of Naani, given she is English, Gaaga was the name our kids gave their Granny and Lady Gaaga it continues to be haaha! Gratitude for this peaceful (though with #teenagers who ofcourse we adore, and they love each other but the squabbles and discussions and our attempts at dealing with some #parenting stuff definitely added some fireworks to the tranquility haaha, but necessary conversations me thinks and some we sometimes brush under the carpet in the fast paced city. Any other parents of #teens relate? Some things one just says we will deal with anon given how busy everyone is, but in times when time is available one addresses.)
Apologies for the ramble, suffice to say the #reel is a little summation.
I am not a big New Years person as in I genuinely feel each day is a new day and an opportunity to live life to the full and be and try to be the best versions of ourselves so I don’t really think things change when the clock strikes 12 on NY Eve, do you? But this annual week or so of quality family time at this time of year (we ofcourse try and have regular quality family time) but this time in nature with our dogs, friends, family, sport, runs, walks, football, golf, yoga and more and just slowing one’s pace. Listening to the birds, appreciating the amazing flowers and veg, special kudos to Mum and maali Vithal, is really energising.
Much as we would complain as kids about being in the middle of nowhere, being admist creepy crawlies in a jungle, we now appreciate it all so much and our kids I know do too even if they still winge a bit about the long drive. So thank you Mum and Dad for introducing this into our lives as babies and making it a big part of our lives. Grateful.
I think most families have their unwind place. Whether near or far, simple or fancy. It isn’t even just about the place but about the #mindset and a beautiful place.
