Beverly Joubert Instagram – A gentle nuzzle to say hello. Zebras use a number of strategies to communicate including facial expressions, sound and ear positioning. Their versatile vocal range includes loud braying and barking as well as soft snorting sounds. Silent communication takes the form of careful ear positioning, teeth barring and even how wide open their eyes are. There is likely an entire zebra language comprised of subtle actions and sounds that we are yet to decipher – and possibly never will.
