Seeing the tragedy of the LA fires unfold leads us to ask how can I help? What can we do to help the families in need? Civic Soul will use 100% of donations over the next week at least to go to families in need. Caitlin @caitlinskybound will be in Pasadena / Altadena tomorrow to bring gift cards and items to families who have lost their homes. She’ll also be figuring out how our community can further help. Thank you to all those who have been donating to @civicsoulorg to help give aid to those affected by LA Fires. Donated gift cards, food and masks to multiple distribution sites. Volunteered at @victorybiblechurch the past two days. What an incredibly welcoming and resilient community. So many in their congregation lost their homes, but each one of them is surrounded by support and love. The immediate response from our community has been overwhelming, beautiful and appreciated. As with many situations like this, after a few weeks the support can fade, but I promise that will not be the case with our efforts. We will do what we can to help in the coming months and years. We had an amazing time at the @celebrationnationorg Christmas Party for Farmworkers and their families. We get to eat everyday because these farmworkers are out there every day. Thank you so much to everyone who has been donating to @civicsoulorg I’ll be sharing more, but want to let you know that I spent most of the day at @victorybiblechurch where we organized so many wonderful donations that will be handed out to those in need starting at 8:30 tomorrow morning. This is a beautiful community who had over 40 families lose their homes in the Eaton fire. My friend and fellow Altadena native @salstowers and I loved volunteering today and look forward to doing more tomorrow.
We’ve kept busy over here and I couldn’t have done it all without you out the support of our community, especially those who showed up with gift cards, luggage, art supplies and other essentials. @luglife sent so much luggage, travel bags and gift cards, THANK YOU! All donors THANK YOU!!! New friends led by @danijo02 and @eddiab66 came from San Diego with a truckload of items! We distributed them at @pasadenacatholic and @victorybiblechurch The focus right now is on secondary essential items, things you may not think of needing at first, but then after a few days you realize, oh man I really need laundry detergent. This past weekend, we distributed aid to over 1000 individuals impacted by the fire who came by @daylaborernetwork at the Pasadena Community Job Center. I was able to support @thisisabouthumanity and their Emergency Fund for the Los Angeles wildfire by volunteering. We packed 6 pallets of dignity kits, PPE, and safety accessories at the @globalempowermentmission warehouse. These items were then transported to @daylaborernetwork where they are mobilizing to help the community impacted in Pasadena. Families and individuals were able to receive food, water, emergency supplies, baby accessories, a hot meal and more. We helped day laborers—who were also volunteering their time—clear streets of fallen trees and branches to keep the community safe. There are some people out there who want you to think immigrants are hurting this country. Let this be an example of the TRUTH. These people are helping this city get back on its feet. Farm workers bring our families so much joy, during the holidays, and every. single. day.
