Picked up a little something in the Berkshires. The new addition went from being named Ernest to Bela Lugosi on account of biting me twice on our first full day together. He has since mellowed…I hope. Getting him into the carrier at 4:00 am will be fun. I suspect there will be some ground beef hiding a trazodone tablet in the process. He’s a gem of a boy. Thank you Ivey Abitz, for introducing me to the newest family member. I firmly believe that Sophie Tucker, Spanky Gene, and most especially Arbuckle, have sent him to me from afar, proving they are still watching and loving.
For the past seven days, I have found myself in Midway, Utah. Hallmark tapped me for a…wait for it…Christmas romance entitled “Deck The Walls”, written by the wonderful Danny Pellegrino. This is some of God‘s beautiful country; I think there’s probably boatloads to do in this neck of the woods, although it’s apparently preseason. Not yet time for skiing or snowboarding, and I don’t fish (I don’t actually ski or snowboard either, but that’s beside the point.) So, how have I been spending my off days? To begin with, see attached crappy video of me, animal advocate, practically running down a young deer in an attempt to get a cool video. Thrift stores in the town of Heber beckoned and have been combed through. Soaked myself silly in the “Utah Crater,” a 95 degree mineral bath which just happens to be across the street from my hotel. The fresh raspberry milkshake at Grannies Drive-In has become a daily must-have. A couple of cool little boutiques in Midway, where I’m housed, have also tempted me to the point of purchase. And then there was the “always Christmas” store, Kringles, where, yes, I purchased a few things for my annual Christmas Candy Party. They shipped a box of decor back home and, just yesterday, I was at the point of purchasing even more grotesquely expensive shit (cute shit, but nonetheless) when it was explained to me that Kringles charges for shipping by the amount spent, not by weight like normal, ethical store owners. I have trouble with assholes who think I’m stupid. So, no mas cute shit from Kringles for me. Found the hotel laundry and a cool little market with fresh taquitos. And just this morning, I discovered Shout TV has an entire channel devoted to Speed Racer. It’s a beautiful day out and still early. But I’ve had my milkshake. The jammies are on and I’m in bed with Speed, Trixie, Chim-Chim, Spritle (the little fuck) and most importantly, Racer X. As it were.  Hello, Utah!!!

Tuckered at Boston Logan. Big fight this morning getting into the carrier—which we trained with Sunday night and all day yesterday. Little fuc…darling…drew blood again (he’s so damn quick) because puppy teeth, being smaller, are like tiny scalpels. And me, as I’m somewhat decrepit, well I’ve gotten slower. Someone’s going into training in very short order. But we’re on our way home; me and the beloved Berkshire theater dog.
