When they got rid of our autonomy and limited reproductive freedom, they thought “oh that’ll show those sl*ts who use it as birth control to keep their legs shut!” (Heard that soundbite my whole life.) Only now, your daughters and friends are going septic with their miscarriages because doctors can’t legally perform any procedures until the mother’s life is in mortal danger.
When they said that they’d lower the cost of goods by slapping tariffs on imports, you cheered, not understanding that it was YOUR household that was gonna make up that difference in price…..not the foreign companies.
When they said they’d deport the “illegals”, (and how fucking dare you deny anyone this stolen land. If anyone doesn’t belong here?? Whoo boy. Read a fucking book.) you cheered. Guess who picks your food? Builds your homes? Does vital, artistic, important work that holds up the infrastructure of our communities?? That’s right. The people who risk life and limb to come here.
I’m angry. People keep pointing that out like it’s a bad thing. They’re idiots. I’m gonna stay angry! And I’m gonna recruit and cheer for more angry people.
What the 46% of us white women failed to do over the last decade (and let me be very clear, it is our responsibility to address this. Marginalized women showed up on the right side of history.) is make that 53% understand is that their proximity to white male supremacy does not protect them. They are just necessary tools. They’re cattle.
Your daddy and brothers and husbands who voted for this?? They don’t love you. And that’s a hard thing to reckon with. I know, cause I’ve done that exact work. You are cattle.
