On finding companionship
Lisa Ray: Suj and I met in our early 20s when we both arrived in Bombay. From the start, she felt like a sister. I felt so safe with her that after nights out in SoBo, I’d crash at her place instead of heading home to Bandra. As only children, we bonded over defying our backgrounds. In the Bombay of the ’90s, Indian girls returning from abroad were rare – we were outliers who became each other’s secret keepers.
Sujata Assomull: From the moment I met Lisa for an interview, our connection was instant. Both finding our footing in India, we bonded over shared experiences and a deep love for the country. We listen, challenge, and push each other while keeping things purposeful and fun.
