Maria Grazia Chiuri Instagram – In the center of the Barberini Library, two globes trace the migrations of fabrics and embroideries at different historical moments.
The first globe reproduces traditional cartographies with various weaving and embroidery techniques to illustrate the richness of textile culture in different
areas of the world, honoring the meeting of cultures.
The second, however, outlines an imaginary, more intimate geography, telling the fantasies and desires of the women artisans of the Chanakya school.
Many of them have never traveled beyond their local communities, outside the region, many do not possess a passport, but all dream of traveling to know the
world.
In the space, there is a trunk containing banner garments, inspired by the vestimentary transformations of the six pioneers along their journeys.
