Michelle Obama Instagram – With so many heartbreaking conflicts and crises happening all around the world, the need to invest in adolescent girls could not be more critical. We know that these girls are the key to stronger families, communities, and countries. But war, democratic backsliding, and climate disasters are jeopardizing girls’ health and safety—and threatening to undermine progress toward gender equality.
That’s why I’m so proud that today, the Girls Opportunity Alliance is committing $1 million in support of girls who are disproportionately impacted by global conflict and crises.
In collaboration with CARE, Plan International, Save the Children, and UNICEF USA, we are supporting efforts to invest in girls affected by crises in places such as Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Gaza, Haiti, Lebanon, Nigeria, Sudan, and Ukraine. These organizations will provide vital humanitarian support and enable girls to continue learning despite their challenging circumstances.
