Today we have started a new podcast about many important topics such as 🤫 SEX 🤫 launching in 2025. Why do we NEED to be discussing sex in India? The fact, is that India has a huge problem when it comes to sexuality. A woman is raped every 16 minutes. 16 minutes?! When the rape in Kolkata happened – what did we do? A few stories and a candle march. Did any laws change? Did anything CHANGE? India’s issues with sex are DEEPLY TIED to its cultural, social, and historical complexities. Despite its rich history of celebrating sexuality in texts like the Kamasutra and temple art, modern India largely views sex as taboo, driven by patriarchal norms. This repression leads to harmful consequences, from a lack of sex education to skewed gender dynamics where men are sexually frustrated and women are shamed for their desires. Openly discussing sex is not just a personal matter…it’s an ethical one. Conversations about sexuality intersect with broader issues of human rights, gender equality, and individual agency. A society that avoids these discussions perpetuates harm, suppressing progress toward equitable and respectful relationships. For India, tackling these taboos is essential for addressing systemic issues like gender-based violence and improving sexual health outcomes. Open dialogue is not only about sexual liberation; it’s about building a society grounded in respect, empathy, and informed consent…values that align with India’s broader goals of modernity and ethical progress. Illuminating podcast today, learning about how consumerism has such a serious impact on the environment, driving resource depletion, waste generation, and pollution. Basically what it means is that due to our demand for products it is leading to over-extraction of natural resources, contributing to large amounts of waste, and accelerating climate change through carbon emissions from production and transportation 😨 Then on top of that, is our constant cycle of production and disposal – which is encouraging the overuse of energy and the destruction of ecosystems, leading to biodiversity loss. So much to learn, and so much to do to improve. It is our job to ask questions and be BETTER. Podcast coming soon with Dr. Sailesh Rao and our first ever live audience! In India, while over 60 million dogs struggle on the streets, our obsession with purebred pets fuels a cruel industry that forces countless animals into existence just to meet demand. Puppy mills, largely unregulated, are rife with abuse: dogs are crammed into filthy, overcrowded cages, enduring malnutrition and disease, with breeding females exploited until they’re abandoned or killed. The puppies sold from these mills often suffer from genetic disorders and behavioral problems due to poor breeding practices. Organizations like @pfa.official and @hsiglobal @hsi_india fight to raise awareness and improve laws, but our society’s lack of compassion and regulation perpetuates this cycle of suffering. These animals—kept in unbearable, confined conditions, often going insane from neglect—are not products; they are living beings. This one tortoise I met, was obviously going insane. No social interaction, nowhere to go. Confined – until some dumb person buys him. Animals are not objects. They are individuals. We have the ability for moral and rational thought; and as such; as a species we need to be better. We are no longer a primitive species, so we need to stop acting like it.
Why is masculinity so closely tied to eating meat? This connection seems deeply rooted in history, where meat, especially red meat, symbolized strength and power. In many cultures, men were the hunters, tasked with providing food for the group, and eating meat was a sign of their role as strong, capable protectors. But why has this image persisted so strongly into modern times? What is it about meat that continues to be equated with male dominance and physical prowess? It’s almost as if consuming meat is viewed as a way for men to affirm their masculinity, as though protein and strength are inseparable. The influence of advertising and media only amplifies this connection. From TV shows to commercials, men are often depicted as rugged, independent figures who enjoy a hearty steak or burger, reinforcing the stereotype that eating meat is essential to being “manly.” But why does society continue to perpetuate this idea? Why is meat consumption still seen as a marker of toughness, while plant-based diets are often relegated to more “feminine” or “gentle” stereotypes? This cultural narrative seems so ingrained, yet it raises important questions about how deeply our ideas of gender and identity are shaped by food and consumption. At the end of the day, protein is protein, whether it comes from plants or animals. And isn’t it more manly, to stand up for the voiceless, against the status quo? To stand up for what is right rather than what is easy? #Gentleness #Vegan #Animals
