I’ve been hesitant to talk about it because I don’t want to declare I’ll *never* drink again — all I knew when I quit is that it wasn’t serving me, especially in emotionally turbulent periods of my life.
it brought a lot of chaos that frankly wouldn’t have been there otherwise.
sometimes the chaos was good (parkour)
sometimes the chaos was bad (puking)
but chaos is still chaos & I felt ready to stop letting a lemon drop dictate my midnight decisions
as much as I miss the friendships forged in the girls bathroom, being sober for the past few years has taught me more about myself than anything else
(with the exception of grief)
& I’m proud of me for recognizing a problem, changing it & sticking to sparkling water for two whole rounds around the sun
