Christina Pascucci Instagram – What an honor to witness this natural wonder!
Every year, millions of monarch butterflies arrive in Mexico from November to March, just in time for Día de los Muertos, when many believe they carry the spirits of loved ones returning home. This marks the completion of an epic 3,000-mile journey from as far north as Canada.
While we’ve just received hopeful news that the number of monarchs wintering in Mexico doubled in area compared to the previous year, a study published last week in Science warns that the total number of monarchs in the U.S. has decreased by 22% over the past 20 years.
This is a serious issue—pollinators are responsible for 75% of our food crops!
Monarch numbers have dwindled due to habitat loss, but scientists say the best way we can help is simple: plant native milkweed.
Thank you, @naturalhabitatadventures @court_whelan @world_wildlife for your conservation efforts to ensure this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon continues for generations to come. 🦋 | Posted on 12/Mar/2025 03:56:25
