Diana Nyad Instagram – When the fires started raging Tuesday, I was like most of you, a witness to uncontrollable tragedy. I sat in my comfortable home, filled with empathy for those running for safety. Early evening yesterday, a wind shift brought a new “Sunset Fire” over the Hollywood Hills and heading south toward where Bonnie and I live. We packed important papers, filled the car with gas. I walked around my home, where myriad moments of photographs and wall murals shocked me into imagining how I might start all over, if I were to come home and find rubble, as many people here are experiencing now. The scare is over for us in this area now, but the commitment to somehow help these folks who have lost so very much runs deep.
