Elif ?afak Instagram – My novel #10minutes38secondsinthisstrangeworld tells the story of Tequila Leila, a sex worker in Istanbul, brutally killed and buried in The Cemetery of the Companionless–a place where there are usually no names carved on gravestones but numbers, a place where human beings–even in death– are othered, ostracised and reduced to mere numbers. But this book is also a story about the power of friendship and love, and it is about resilience.
