Jen Gunter

Jen Gunter Instagram – Whenever I post about something that to some people seems overtly political, I receive comments and DMs that I should focus on medicine, not politics, or that I should “stick to menopause.” But here’s the issue: health and politics are intertwined in so many ways that politics touch every medical post I have ever written; it’s just not always that obvious.

For TheVajenda I wrote about the many ways politics touches healthcare. Do you appreciate critical data on menopause from SWAN? Funded by the NIH. Looking forward to the study about Premarin and bazedoxifene for women at high risk of breast cancer? Funded by the NIH. In fact, the NIH is the largest single funder of biomedical research in the world.

Or maybe you like when I bring you alerts about a contaminated supplement? That’s from the FDA. How did we first find out about toxic shock syndrome? The CDC. I could go on.

What has happened this week is not normal and it’s frightening.

If you are following any health influencers who are not writing or posting videos about the concerning executive orders from this week and what’s to come, then I would guess these influencers are A) either entirely on board with Trump’s plan or B) they are not on board but are more interested in making sure that sales of books and supplements and diet programs don’t drop.

Also, be mindful of who bends the knee. Kennedy (Health and Human Services), Makary (FDA) and Weldon (CDC) are all forced birthers. (Kennedy will say anything he needs to, so while in the past he may not have cared about abortion, he’s happy to tow the party line). And when you cozy up to a forced birther you are a forced birther

The anti-science foxes are in the hen house and I explain a lot of what is at stake in my post, and so I hope you check it out. | Posted on 26/Jan/2025 21:50:52
