Completed another trip around the sun and it was great. Getting so many beautiful birthday wishes from friends around the world reminds me of how fortunate I have been in this beautiful life. I always feel so much love on this day thanks to family, friends and followers who send me good wishes and love. Life really couldn’t be better. Chose to do a simple little dinner with Mom tonight. No big cake or singing. Just a single candle in some ice cream was all I needed. Thank you to everyone who reached out. I was walking on a cloud all day.

My Finding Ohana TV daughter, Kea Peahu, needs your help. In April 2024, what began as a routine physical for Kea, motivated by her family’s health history, turned into a life-altering emergency. Shortly after her visit, she was rushed to the ER and has faced significant health challenges ever since. Initially misdiagnosed with lupus for the first 8 months, new tests revealed that Kea is actually battling Autoimmune Hepatitis Type 2, an aggressive disease that attacks the liver. On January 25th, Kea was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of LA, where doctors discovered alarming conditions: liver cirrhosis, enlarged veins in her esophagus, an enlarged spleen, and critically low blood counts. It became evident that she has been silently fighting this illness for 5-10 years without showing symptoms, remaining active and healthy through dance and fitness. Currently, Kea is on the liver transplant list but is unable to travel due to her condition. The uncertainty of her treatment duration and the associated medical costs weigh heavily on her and her family. We are reaching out to you for support to help cover these expenses. This episode of “Shoes Off Inside” was originally supposed to be about how to mentally prepare for the new year ahead with the help of our guest psychologist Dr. Jenny Wang @asiansformentalhealth But then, the cataclysmic LA wildfires hit and we knew we had to pivot. The destruction to homes, businesses and entire neighborhoods is so immense, it’s difficult to truly understand the scale of loss. As of the date of this episode, more than 180,000 people have been displaced by the fires. More than 10,000 structures are damaged or destroyed. 11 human lives have been lost. Animals, both domestic and wild, have also been dramatically impacted. May, Kelly and Tamlyn speak with Dr. Wang about how we can all help each other through this unprecedented disaster and what each one of us can do to make a difference even in the smallest of ways. This was a way for us to share a space of comfort, compassion, sympathy and empathy. Thank to all the incredible first responders who are courageously putting themselves in harm’s way to save others.
