A big THANK YOU to our amazing keynote panelists for their unique and powerful perspectives. Our keynote conversation session brings together national leaders and five trans women of color change agents working in community, legislative, and political fights for trans liberation. We explore the intersections of weaponized faith, white supremacy, and the systemic barriers that hinder support for Trans BIPOC people in today’s social and political climate. Today, we’re proud to release our 20-page Impact Report, documenting a year of resilience, creativity, and trans power across Missouri, Kansas, NW Arkansas, and the Ozarks. 💥🏳️⚧️ Led by trans women of color, Transformations emerged in 2016 in response to the epidemic of violence targeting Black and Brown trans femmes. We’ve always fought back—with strategy, with art, and with community. 🖤 From the frontlines to the page, our 2024 Impact Report reflects the deep shifts we faced—including a $250,000 shortfall from failed philanthropic promises that forced us to delay Liberation Camp, our flagship leadership program. In the words of our ED, Merrique Jenson: “Despite the financial losses and the shifting priorities of funders, Transformations innovated, adapted, and refused to be erased. MONICA DEJESUS ANAYA, publicly known as @monicabhillz MONICA BEVERLY HILLZ, is a trans activist and entertainment personality. As an iconic pioneer, she is the first trans woman to come out as a contestant on @rupaulsdragrace RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5. She has performed in the art of drag for nearly two decades, getting her start in the Chicago LGBTQ House, Latinx salsa, and bachata clubs. Monica recently released her full-length version of her viral hit, “Not A Soul Can Clock,” featuring other trans women of color artists, @tsmadison and @neverendingninanotes , and collaborating with her @kctransformations sisters to provide tips and strategies for the dolls engaged in survival work with the new “A Path or Roses” s3x worker field guide. She is known for her feminine, sensual, and fiery spirit – and for simply keeping it real. She is an established activist committed to supporting queer and transgender youth, working with survivors of sexual exploitation and homelessness, and is a community advisory board member for Transformations, a trans woman of color-led nonprofit serving trans communities of color.
