I’m sorry to say that this is simply a continuation of the performative cruelty we saw from the Conservatives.
The new Home Office guidance means that some refugees will never be allowed to feel secure and safe in their homes.
These people are already here. We’ve agreed they are refugees. Why refuse them citizenship simply because they took the only route that was available to them?
In an increasingly volatile world, taking a leaf from the far-right playbook will never end well – for any of us.
