It’s always been one of my most cherished nights of artistry and advocacy combined, but this year it felt more precious and imperative than ever…
When our government has eviscerated perhaps the most important expression of the best of America’s promise — our aid, assistance, and empathy, all shown in the soft power and best attempt at global unity exemplified by USAID — it’s both a tragedy that it’s on the aid groups, and also a BEACON OF HOPE that the aid groups aren’t going anywhere!
We will not abandon each other. We will keep showing up. For our neighbors, both local and global. I cried a little (okay a lot) watching the EJAF raise $8.5 million in the room on Sunday, to continue their live saving work around the world. Proof that we can accomplish so much, no matter who’s in charge, when we lean on community and show the fuck up!!
Here’s to us. All of us who march, and love, and dance, and rally, and do the work in the light and the dark. And @chappellroan and @theestallion I LOVE YOU WE LOVE YOU EEEEEP OKAY THAT IS ALL!
