I can’t believe it’s been nearly a week since we gathered for the annual @ejaf Elton John AIDS Foundation fundraiser on Oscars Sunday. It’s always been one of my most cherished nights of artistry and advocacy combined, but this year it felt more precious and imperative than ever… When our government has eviscerated perhaps the most important expression of the best of America’s promise — our aid, assistance, and empathy, all shown in the soft power and best attempt at global unity exemplified by USAID — it’s both a tragedy that it’s on the aid groups, and also a BEACON OF HOPE that the aid groups aren’t going anywhere!
