I was too busy celebrating that I get to love you yesterday to post about it (story of my life these days). But you deserve all of the flowers, space baby — in person and digital too — on love day and every day. Thank you for all of the things you’ve given to me and my most tender heart, @ashlynharris24. I’m a very lucky lady 🚀✨🔭🪐💛

Reflecting on Diane 🕊️ Some cultural losses cut extra deep. Yesterday I found (some of) the words about why this one cut to the core of the heart for me… I wrote to a sister friend: “I have truly been so sad since I found out… Reflecting on why I feel this way? I think I’ve realized that Diane Keaton emulated so many of the things I didn’t see in the world around me, so many possibilities for women to be embodied, and centered in their own lives, And quirky and emotional and frustrated and confused and yet sexy and lovable and tremendous!!! She gave me a language for the kind of woman I wanted to be, and the kind of woman I knew was alive inside of me before I had the words to describe her. She was truly a profound artist, And managed to be so with a smile. Perhaps a smirk? God, I loved her.” Thank you @diane_keaton. You taught so many of us that we actually could fly, because we watched you soar. Rest in Peace and Power, icon. Even though you didn’t know what “iconic” meant exactly…

Happy Birthday dear @mrjerryoc!! You’re a gem of a friend, you and @rebeccaromijn have built such a beautiful family, and we feel so lucky to be in your word. And I’ve NEVER been more overjoyed to snipe the dinner check from anyone. It’s the only time I’ve ever managed to do it since we started filming #SummersLastResort. @tubi fam, I GOT HIM!!! Mark one down on the battle chart for me!

Seems like some folks forgot how America began. Not us. One week from right now, millions of Americans will gather in every state for the biggest day of peaceful protest in American history. Join your local No Kings Day event to make it clear that We The People won’t cower in response to Trump’s authoritarian takeover. #nokings
PROUD FRIEND ALERT!! @icouldbeblonder wrote a whole amazing, brilliant, heartbreaking, hilarious, frank and honest book!! Inspired by her (and tbh ours too) adventures in dating — here she is running through the graveyard of all her past relationships — this book combines tragic and tragically funny dates, and reflects what women are taught about being chosen. And not taught. And also chosen!? What the f%ck!? What and who do WE choose!? It’s really a memoir meets self-help survival guide for dating. Which in this world!? Everyone needs. In “A Final Girl’s Guide To THE HORRORS OF DATING” Rory covers everything from the getting ghosted, to navigating STI’s, to how you can to bounce back then your heart is broken. And she does it with such grace, such exacting truth-telling, and also such bravery!? I couldn’t put it down. Because not only was this book making me say “yesssss, that!” as I turned the pages. It also made me reflect not just on the obstacle course of romance in our modern lives, but also self love. And look I won’t spoil it for you, but the “Spells” Chapter!? Really made me think a lot about how we all speak to ourselves. If words are powerful? Then words are like spells. We should cast them wisely and intentionally. We deserve to do that kindly, to beat back the monsters inside our own minds. Because what are limiting beliefs or negative thoughts if not monsters we’re fighting all the time!? Friends. Get this book immediately. (#linkinbio and stories) Ror, I love you! I’m so proud of you!! I mean hello you woke up today NUMBER ONE IN YOUR CATEGORY ON AMAZON!? After so many people (ahem publishers) told you this book was too real and too honest, you didn’t make it smaller. You said, “thank you next!” And you made it happen in its full form. I burst! You legend! Congrats! ♥️🔪🩸👻

Reverend Jesse Jackson was a towering man, and likewise a monumental civil rights leader. His legacy is longer than I can possibly type here, and centered a better American and global future for all. From championing voting rights, fighting for economic justice, and encouraging international diplomacy, all while empowering marginalized communities in our own backyards, we are all better for his tireless dedication to the democratic experiment we call home. I am better for the time I was lucky enough to spend with him. My favorite day? Honoring the Black Wall Street community, and the people of Tulsa on the Centennial of the horrific race massacre that took place there; watching President Biden visit and speak the truth of 1921 (the first POTUS to do so) and watching @terencecrutcherfoundation and @justiceforgreenwood and the be poured over with both sorrow and love. And after such an important, somber moment? He turns to my best friend @nialauryn and I and asked us “if we like ribs.” The Reverend took us to barbecue! To refuel, to fill our cups and our bellies, to have joy after the important sorrow. So yes, he was a towering legend of a man. He was also a man who always added seats to his table. When people were looking, and when they weren’t. May his memory be a blessing and a how-to guide. We need his spirit and his might to live on in us all. To his family and beloved ones, we are heartbroken for you and mourning with you. To our uncle @iamlouiscarr, thank you for sharing the beautiful 2023 @waymakerculture profile on the Reverend again (video included). I encourage my community here to watch it, and go look up the full profile. And then to read more about Rev. Jackson’s incredible life. He was the best of us. Rest well, good sir, rest well. 🕊️
