Tara Lipinski Instagram – February 20th
A day that changed my life forever.
Some quick thoughts…What I did this day I’m proud of- I was able to fight through all the nerves and demons that every athlete faces in that very moment when they know it’s up to them to make the dream happen. One misstep and it’s gone- It’s a lot of pressure to withstand.
But that is not what I’m most proud of- I’m proud of all the years leading up to this moment. When nobody was watching,the days that break you and build who you are. I didn’t realize all the lessons this sport was teaching me at the time but these lessons I bring into my life to this day.
It’s been a challenging time but I woke up today remembering that the hard moments make you stronger and softer at the same time. As we rebuild and navigate the day to day, I want to remember my younger self – the little girl that signed her autograph “always dream” because she truly believed in the power of following her heart. She knew hard work was part of the deal but beyond that she thought anything was possible. I want that part of me to always stay.
I felt so much gratitude as I sat down to commentate this morning- that I get to do what I love and I get to do it with my best friend. AND all these years later and skating is still my first love. How lucky am I?
Later as I grabbed Georgie from her crib, I remembered all of the hard work and hard days that went into this very embryo becoming our sweet Georgie. She’s my biggest gold medal. How sweet life is with her!
I hope I can remind her about the power of dreaming through out her own life. It makes life that much more magical!
