Tara Sharma Instagram – Model UNs #MUN s are fab!
Congrats again Kai and Zen on winning best delegate in your committees in your fab school MUN..These photos are a few months apart, left is of K in this MUN and right of Z in a previous one. He was one of the group of Senior kids helping organise the one for the younger lot this time. While as siblings they have some similar interests and some different, it’s interesting to observe how MUNs, public speaking, sport, music are shared interests. Gosh they fight loads as I’m sure most of you with #teens experience too, but once in a while when they help each other or discuss stuff without swear words or punches thrown in, it’s moving. And preparing for this MUN had a few such moments. Which ofcourse we would be blasted for trying to capture so no such photographic evidence haaha! I held back sharing this as I didn’t want to seem gloaty, though thanks to #thetarasharmashow originating as my Diary as a Mum, honestly I often weave personal experience into wider topics, or slip in some praise when my Mummy heart feels it.
The wider topic is:
Is it better to encourage our kids to be all rounders or to focus on just one or a few things? Honestly for our kids I find they find their passions and decide what to work hard on and pursue. For K football is huge and most of his time compared to other things is spent on that, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t work hard on and enjoy other things too. Z took to MUNs and performing very young, it may have been easy to label him the MUNer in our family, I’m glad we didn’t as so many other things interest him too. Thanks perhaps to K’s sports passion, he took up tennis. Siblings compete and we do try and ensure it is healthy competition and not fighting which admittedly often happens haaha, but siblings also often unconsciously or consciously encourage each other to try new things. Maybe even help a bit. Any thoughts?
A day after he won a footy award this happened so I didn’t want to share it thinking it would look too much, but then as parents we know sometimes things happen all at once so hope ok to and every child is a star in their own way what say?
