Caroline D’Amore Instagram – Today is Yom Hashoah/Holocaust Remembrance Day. Thank you @noatishby for hosting this beautiful gathering and opportunity to hear Holocaust survivor Liya Frank share her and her family’s story. One of far too many tragic stories that we can never allow to be forgotten, ever. 2 days ago I watched @montanatucker powerful film about the children of October 7th and heard 11 year old survivor Yael Idan share her story from 2023, and yesterday I heard Liya Frank share her story from 1945 when she was 10 years old. These shared experiences are far too similar, and absolutely heartbreaking to imagine. How these experiences 80 years apart can be so connected is beyond belief, and a reality that most jews never considered to be a threat in modern times. Yet here we are, hearing 2 survivors, 80 years apart, with one shared experience, and a global society capable of repeating some of humanity’s most evil and tragic acts. Liya at 90 years old says she’s not just worried about the Jewish population, she’s worried about the human population. As many of us our still currently capable of living seemingly beautiful and peaceful lives, there is genocide and evil happening around the world. As the small % of the population we Jews make up, we are fighting for our continued right to exist, but this is far from just a Jewish, Israel, Palestine issue, this is a human issue. Let this day not only make us remember what happened in 1945, but also remind us of what is happening in 2025. #NeverAgain has unfortunately become an outdated slogan, and the time to act is now. | Posted on 23/Apr/2025 20:55:45
