10 yrs ago today I had my 2nd callback and screen test for #AshVsEvilDead and it changed the trajectory of my life. Sam Raimi directed me behind the camera and I read a scene with Bruce Campbell @shemp_malone — the same scene that introduced Kelly in the pilot. After years of rejections and screen tests that didn’t go my way, I never thought I’d get this part— especially with those big names at the helm. So I went into it with gratitude for the experience and told myself to just enjoy it! I was still nervous but everyone in the room made me feel at ease— showrunner @misterdeegs producer @aaronlam and Casting Directors @laurengreycasting @christyfaisoncd. Couldn’t hide my pure joy just *imagining* what this part would be like… So I let it rip. And so did my pants. Still can’t believe they chose me. Playing Kelly was a gift, and it continues to be a gift in ways I never expected. Thank you all for giving me the chance to experience this wild and wonderful adventure! 10 yrs ago today in Auckland, New Zealand: rehearsing stunts for big fight scene in the pilot episode of Ash Vs Evil Dead. With Bruce Campbell, Sam Raimi, Ray and stunt team in the bare bones set of Ash’s Airstream. Featuring our badass costume designer Barbara Darragh, and the Delta. Cast n Crew Pizza party that night thanks to Rob Tapert. Plus some shots around Auckland that day as I explored the city of sails – which I called home for the next 3 yrs! Found this. Discovered the catalyst for my lifelong struggle with mishaps and the plight of relentlessly trying (and failing) to get my name spelled right on anything. Curious what went wrong first- the fingerprint or the picture? 😂 Apparently my mom thought my 1st child ID card was the *perfect* time to make changes to my name: adding an accent to Dána to drive home which syllable should be emphasized in “Dana”— and suddenly writing our last name in lowercase🤣 presumably to make obvious that DeLorenzo is spelled with a CAPITAL L. Kinda brilliant. Seeing my name misspelled as Delorenzo with lowercase L is the bane of my existence so imma pull a Phyllis— call me Dána deLorenzo from here on out. 🪪
