@raquel_willis is a warrior without fear and a hero with a purpose.
Honored by Time Magazine as one of the official Women Of The Year, she breaks boundaries as if they never existed. She non a journey of great purpose. She is divinely blessed with a radical sense of humor and a razor sharp wit, and as the world spins and continues to fly off into the ether, that is most likely one of her most sought after super powers.
I have followed her for years. I try my best to walk her walk and talk her talk. She is one of my favorite teachers and I, as a devout student, hold on to her speak and demeanor as best I can.
I don’t know if this means not everything is on fire. I honestly don’t know. My head is turning so fast and as I sit patiently, dodging dishes at the MadHatters tea party along with the rest of my Trans family, I look for leaders like Raquel. To guide me. Keep me. And most of all, to remind me that no matter how awful it is right now and how much deeper into the darkness we may go, there is always gorgeous and hopeful places to rest.
And in the arms of this warrior, is one of those places.
