Ellie Holcomb Instagram – It’s Ash Wednesday this week, which is a day to remember that from dust we come and to dust we’ll return. I’m learning more and more about as I get older. I used to think that this day was a real downer, and didn’t really grasp it, and as I’ve grown , suffered, fallen, failed, and found forgiveness and mercy and grace over and over again, I begin to understand the perspective that Ash Wednesday gives us.
Our days are numbered, and we often make a mess of them, but there is this beautiful invitation to turn from our messes, our worry, our pain…the pain we have caused and the pain we have endured, to the Love of God, to the mercy of God, to the healing of God, and to the light. Praying that I will feel small in the best of ways this week, remembering that our mistakes , our wounds, our doubts, never have to be the end of the story. May we turn from our not enough to God’s more than enough this week and every week and find the sweet relief and joy of grace.
