Ellie Holcomb Instagram – Well, welcome to my verse of 2025. It is my deepest desire to live my life rooted and grounded in Love. I took some time at the beginning of the year to look back and move through my calendar, week by week, to look at what brought life and what brought stress, to mark the moments when I felt consolation and comfort and the moments where I felt desolation and grief. It was powerful. What I came away with was this: THE MOST TRANSFORMATIVE practice in my life is carving out space and time to remember and rest in God’s love for me.
There were seasons of deep deep sorrow and loss last year for us and for our community, but I noticed that when I was carving out time and space to intentionally listen and pour my heart out before the Lord, even the darkest nights of my year were accompanied by my dearest friend, Jesus. There was a hope that rooted deeper in my deepest grief when I simply poured my tears out in the direction of God. I found out, once again, that as deep as pain can take us, LOVE is a deeper well.
My words for this year are ROOTED and GROUNDED because what I’ve found out in about 40 years of learning to follow Jesus, is that if I am grounding myself in the love of God, it changes the way I end up doing EVERYTHING else in my life. Lord, let it be true of my life, so that I’ll be filled up with Your love and so that when I’m wrung out…because I will be…my mess might be everywhere, but at least it will be all mixed up with Your love. Help me remember the height and depth and width and breadth of your Love, and let it transform every decision I make and every relationship I have. May I live and move in Your love.
